That trend continues to grow because the need for health care shows no signs of slowing. If you’re interested in a healthcare career, then now is the perfect time to get started.

If you lack the time or money to complete medical school, you still have options. There are several jobs in the healthcare field that don’t require a medical degree. You might discover that one of these positions is perfect for you.

Medical Courier

Medical couriers transport medical items between labs, clinics, hospitals, and various healthcare facilities. The courier is responsible for sending invoices to medical clients, taking transport orders, and managing deliveries and pickups.

A medical degree isn’t required for this job. But in most cases, a bachelor’s degree is a necessity. DOT hazmat shipper training is also an option for medical couriers. The training covers issues that concern medical couriers, such as best practices, Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements, and DOT regulations.

Paramedic

Ambulance paramedics answer emergency calls, transport patients to the hospital, and provide emergency ambulance care. When paramedics transport a patient to the hospital, they are responsible for informing hospital staff of the patient’s condition.

Most states require paramedics to have an associate’s degree in emergency medical technology. Certification is required as well. However, each state has its own rules regarding what type of treatments paramedics can provide.

Physical Therapist

Physical therapists assist patients with improving their mobility and managing physical pain. This is accomplished by targeting certain areas of the body for treatment. And helping the patient build strength.

Physical therapists need an undergraduate degree in a health-related field, such as biology or anatomy. A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree is required as well. Physical therapists must also get licensed in any state in which they wish to practice.

Audiologist

Audiologists test patients for hearing and balance problems. They also diagnose any other issues related to problems with the ear. When a patient is dealing with hearing loss, audiologists will suggest solutions – such as hearing aids or sign language.

A bachelor’s degree is required before becoming an audiologist. And after the bachelor’s degree, a doctoral degree in audiology is needed. Once all educational requirements are met, audiology certification is required as well.
